Description
A handcrafted ceramic urn, finished in a warm matte glaze and made to keep your companion’s ashes safe at home. The shape is simple and quiet on purpose — it sits comfortably on a shelf, a mantel or a bedside table without asking for attention it does not need.
Choose your size
- Small (5 inch) — approximately 20 cubic inches. As a general guide this suits cats and small dogs.
- Large (7 inch) — approximately 60 cubic inches. As a general guide this suits medium and larger dogs.
If you are unsure, your veterinarian or crematorium can tell you the volume of ashes you will receive. When in doubt, choose the larger size — a little empty space is far better than a tight fit.
What’s included
- One handcrafted ceramic urn
- Food-safe glaze, hand-finished
- A secure, airtight seal to protect the contents
- Optional custom engraving on the base
About the glaze and finish
Each urn is glazed and finished by hand, which is why no two are identical — small variations in tone and surface are part of how the piece is made, not a fault. The glaze is food-safe and colour-stable, so it will not discolour if it is kept out of direct sunlight.
Engraving
You can add a name, a date, or a short line of your choosing to the base of the urn. Keep in mind that engraving is permanent, and that fewer words usually carry more weight. We will confirm your wording with you before it is cut.
Production and shipping
Made to order: allow 2–4 weeks for production, plus 7–15 days for delivery within the United States. Orders over $99 ship free.
Care
Dust with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads on the glaze. Keep the urn out of direct sunlight and away from damp rooms, and handle it with both hands — ceramic is strong, but it is not unbreakable.
Common questions
Is the seal airtight?
Yes. The urn closes with a secure, airtight seal so the contents are protected.
How do I choose between this and a wooden urn?
Ceramic suits a quieter, more traditional look and holds its colour indefinitely. Wood has a warmer, more tactile feel and takes engraved lettering and a photo. Our guide to choosing a pet memorial urn walks through both, and you can also see the wooden keepsake urn here.
What can I do with the rest of the ashes?
Many families keep a small portion for jewellery or a keepsake, and scatter or bury the remainder. Our guide to what to do with your pet’s ashes covers the options in detail.
